New Construction Options

There are many great options if you want to live in a NEW CONSTRUCTION HOUSE in a Historic neighborhood. There are several builders who are building new homes that compliment the older architecturally significant homes. Be sure you take your Buyer's Agent with you when visiting a model or talking to a builder, remember the site agent represents the builder.

LOW COUNTRY HOMES

Lowcountry is a small custom builder who specializes in historically compatible new construction, room additons, and renovations in or out of the designated historic areas. They do not build just historic floorplans but also do a masterful job of Streetscaping, that is, making sure the house also matches the location. They have built craftsman cottages in Avondale and Murray hill, brick victorians in Avondale, coastal cottages in Fernandina and craftsman 2 stories in Springfield. and very seldom build the same floorplan twice. They have received awards for architecturally compatible new construction from the Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission and the Riverside/ Avondale Preservation Association.

Lowcountry's build team has over 70 years of combined, very diverse, building experience:

John Wells is a 7th generation Floridian and was actually born in Springfield at old St. Lukes hospital. He has been a general contractor in Jacksonville for 25 years. He designs and draws most of the houses that the company builds.

OPERATION NEW HOPE

Operation New Hope is a not-for -profit community development corporation that works to revitalzie and sustain economically and ethically diverse communities in and around Jacksonville's urban core

Their initiative has developed into a model program that eliminates slums and blight in emerging neighborhoods.   It provides affordable housing, and prepares and places families in homes, allowing them to realize the dream of home ownership and the benefits that go with it.

RIVERSIDE/AVONDALE DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION (RADO)

Riverside Avondale Development Organization was established by  Riverside Avondale Preservation, Inc. (RAP), in an effort to keep affordable housing available to the community.

RADO renovates and constructs homes in the Riverside Avondale neighborhoods.  They can assist individuals in accessing grant money, low interest financing and subsidies that are available to first time home buyers, and  to those who fall within the median income range.
